QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Well, here are a couple important questions I hear frequently from both clients and acquaintances.

Any more questions? Feel free to email me:  info@ocwax.com

Q: My friend got waxed and said it hurt SO BAD! Why?

A: Well I would first like to say, DON’T KNOCK IT ‘TIL YOU TRY IT! Every person that gets waxed has many factors that play into their negative or positive waxing experience. First factor, your friend might have gone to a waxer that is not experienced. The waxer may have used harsh and inexpensive wax, they may not do many waxings, or they may just not LIKE doing waxing. Keep in mind many waxers are not just waxers; they also do facials, body treatments, and makeup. This is usually not their specialty and not their passion.

Second factor, Your friend also may have a higher pain tolerance than you. Even if someone can handle a pinch on the arm or getting a tattoo better than you, doesn’t mean they can handle getting waxed better than you! Everybody’s interpretation of pain is different.

I have dozens of clients tell me,

“my friend said this would hurt so bad, but this is NOT that bad, I can definitely handle this! What the heck was she talking about!”

So needless to say, I believe this is a situation that calls for everyone to really find out for themselves. However, you might be one of those girls that it DID hurt very badly.  To those people, my advice is always make sure your waxer is a waxing specialist, does not double dip her waxing sticks, loves waxing, and uses high grade waxes! If you are lost trying to find one, I think I might know of a place ;)

Q: I got waxed and my hair grew back really fast. What was wrong with my waxer? I feel like I wasted my money!

A:Well there can be 2 reasons for this. If your waxer is inexperienced, or simply just not a good waxer, she has the ability of breaking the hairs instead of pulling them out by the root. This may make hair appear the next day as if you shaved.

Most commonly though, the fact that hair grows back quickly is neither you nor your waxers fault. The hair you feel grew back so quickly is actually hair that was NOT waxed, but hair that shed itself about 4-8 weeks ago and is just now growing through the skin. Hair in any given area, all over your body, is never ALL present at the same time. Your hair EVERYWHERE grows, detached from the growth bulb, sheds itself, and regrows again. If all of your hair was on the same growth cycle, all that hair would fall out together and leave you bald at certain points in your life! So keep in mind, it is difficult to predict when your hair will fall out or grow in. But waxing can train your hair to grow together. Hair that is waxed together, grows back together. So by consistently waxing, we train most hair follicles to grow together which cuts down on break-through cycles and random growths between waxings.

Q:Waxing seems so expensive, especially right now with this economy! Do you offer any deals?

A: Waxing seems like an expensive upkeep, and to most, it is a necessity! We offer regular waxing clients a discount for their bikini waxes. Our Brazilian bikini clients start their first waxing at $60, and after this visit, if our clients keep regular waxing appointments every 4 weeks, we cut your Brazilian cost down $5 increments until we get to $45. So after 3 months, you will have less hair and more money!

Q:I will die if I have to grow out my bikini hair to get waxed, it’s so annoying! Do I have to deal with that every time I want to get waxed?

A: Remember that when you are growing out your hair for your first bikini, playboy, French or Brazilian waxing, you are growing out all of your bikini hair that is present in that area, which is about 70% (some hair has shed itself and isn’t presently growing). This present hair has been shaved or trimmed and is coarse, scratchy, thick, and just down right annoying! If you can grow this out, get it waxed, and keep up with regular waxing visits, your bikini area will never feel like that ever again. The hair that grows back for your next waxing visit in about 3-4 weeks, will only be ONE cycle of hair- which is 10% of your hair, NOT 70%.  Imagine growing out only 10% of your hair, it’s so much softer, sparse, thin and manageable! I can guarantee you that regular waxing visits leave you NEVER having to deal with that initial growth annoyance EVER again!
